Los Angeles Dog Trainer Michael Chill of Animal Services Dog Training specializes in dog and puppy training and behavior. Over the past 40+ years of training, Michael has established an excellent reputation as one of the top Los Angeles dog trainers among the members of the pet industry, including veterinarians, groomers, pet shop owners, and other pet professionals.
Michael was the dog training instructor at the Animal Trainers Career Academy in the late seventies and lectured at the School for Animal Care Consultants. He was compound manager for Gordon Meredith, a Patsy Award winning trainer, where Michael gained experience working with wolves, cougars, bobcats, and other exotic animals. Michael is known for his expertise with wolves and wolf behavior, and was Director of Phase 1 of the International Wolf Center in Ely, MN., where he supervised the exhibit installation, created the first educational programs, designed the environmental enclosure, and hand-raised the first wolf pack for the exhibit. He has also participated on tracking teams, studying wolves and wolf behavior in the northwoods of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Michael was Operations Manager for the Alliance for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education coordinating rescue efforts as well as the education lectures series. He is currently a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, taking in injured and orphaned wild animals for care and then releasing them back into the wild, specializing in mammals and birds of prey.
A member of the Dog Writers' Association of America, Michael is the author of Puppybook, and has published many articles on dogs and behavior. He currently writes a monthly column on dog training and behavior for the Animal Press.
Michael is a consultant for many city, state and federal agencies, including the Department of Animal Control, the Los Angeles S.P.C.A., the Santa Monica Animal Shelter, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He also consults with many private organizations, including the Fund for Animals, the Ark Trust, the Amanda Foundation, The Dawg Squad, the Lange Foundation, the Bill Foundation, Actors and Others for Animals, Best Friend's Sanctuary, Wildwings of California, the Center for Natural Lands Management, Lifeline for Pets, Petville Park U.S.A., and The Earth Organization.
